Core i5-9400 vs Ryzen 3 4100 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 3 4100 is faster than the Core i5-9400. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-9400 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-9400 has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Ryzen 3 4100 that has 4 cores. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 4100 has more threads than the Core i5-9400. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 4100 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-9400. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 4100 has slightly more L2 cache than the Core i5-9400. Despite this, the Core i5-9400 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 3 4100.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-9400 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
