Core i5-8600K vs Xeon E5-2650 v4 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-2650 v4 beats the Core i5-8600K in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-8600K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2650 v4 has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Core i5-8600K has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-8600K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-8600K has a significantly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2650 v4. Also, the Core i5-8600K has a significantly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-8600K CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2650 v4 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-8600K has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
