Core i5-8600 vs Ryzen Z2 Go specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen Z2 Go beats the Core i5-8600 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-8600 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-8600 has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Ryzen Z2 Go that has 4 cores. Despite this, the Ryzen Z2 Go has more threads than the Core i5-8600. Our comparison shows that the Core i5-8600 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen Z2 Go. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. The Ryzen Z2 Go outputs less heat than Core i5-8600 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen Z2 Go has slightly more L2 cache than the Core i5-8600. Despite this, the Core i5-8600 has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen Z2 Go.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-8600 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
