Core i5-8600 vs Core i7-9700KF specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Core i7-9700KF beats the Core i5-8600 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-8600 in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i7-9700KF has slightly more cores than the Core i5-8600. Indeed, the Core i7-9700KF has 8 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Core i5-8600. It also has more threads than the Core i5-8600. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-9700KF has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-8600. Also, the Core i7-9700KF has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-8600 CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-9700KF CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i7-9700KF has more L2 cache than the Core i5-8600. The Core i7-9700KF also has slightly more L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-8600 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
