Core i5-8600 vs Core i7-8705G benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-8705G is faster than the Core i5-8600. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-8600 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-8600 has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i7-8705G has 4 cores. Despite this, the Core i7-8705G has more threads than the Core i5-8600. In terms of clock speed, the Core i5-8600 and Core i7-8705G are identical in this regard. Despite this, the Core i5-8600 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i5-8600 has more L2 cache than the Core i7-8705G. The Core i5-8600 also has slightly more L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-8600 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
