Core i5-8500T vs Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-8500T performs better than the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-8500T has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G has 4 cores. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G has more threads than the Core i5-8500T. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-8500T. Also, the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-8500T CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G has slightly more L2 cache than the Core i5-8500T. Despite this, the Core i5-8500T has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-8500T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
