Core i5-8500T vs Core i3-1220P specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Core i3-1220P beats the Core i5-8500T in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-8500T has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i3-1220P has significantly more cores with 10 cores whereas the Core i5-8500T has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-8500T. Our comparison shows that the Core i5-8500T has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i3-1220P. Despite this, the Core i3-1220P has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i3-1220P outputs less heat than Core i5-8500T thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i3-1220P has more L2 cache than the Core i5-8500T. The Core i3-1220P also has slightly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-8500T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
