Core i5-8500T vs Core 7 150U specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core 7 150U performs better than the Core i5-8500T. Despite this, the Core i5-8500T has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core 7 150U has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Core i5-8500T that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-8500T. Our comparison shows that the Core i5-8500T has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core 7 150U. Despite this, the Core 7 150U has a significantly higher turbo speed. In terms of cache, the Core 7 150U has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-8500T. The Core 7 150U also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-8500T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
