Core i5-8500 vs Xeon E5-2620 benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-8500 is faster than the Xeon E5-2620. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-2620 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Xeon E5-2620 has more threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i5-8500 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-2620. Also, the Core i5-8500 has a significantly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-8500 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2620 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-8500 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
