Core i5-8500 vs Core i7-10610U specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-8500 is faster than the Core i7-10610U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-10610U in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-8500 has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i7-10610U has 4 cores. Despite this, the Core i7-10610U has more threads than the Core i5-8500. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-8500 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i7-10610U. Despite this, the Core i7-10610U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-10610U outputs less heat than Core i5-8500 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i5-8500 has more L2 cache than the Core i7-10610U. The Core i5-8500 also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-8500 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
