Core i5-8400T vs Xeon E5-620 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-8400T beats the Xeon E5-620 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-620 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-8400T has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Xeon E5-620 has 4 cores. Despite this, the Xeon E5-620 has more threads than the Core i5-8400T. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E5-620 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-8400T. Despite this, the Core i5-8400T has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-8400T CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-620 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i5-8400T has more L2 cache than the Xeon E5-620. The Core i5-8400T also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-8400T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
