Core i5-8400T vs Xeon E3-1275 v3 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E3-1275 v3 beats the Core i5-8400T in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-8400T has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-8400T has significantly more cores than the Xeon E3-1275 v3. Indeed, the Core i5-8400T has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Xeon E3-1275 v3. Despite this, the Xeon E3-1275 v3 has more threads than the Core i5-8400T. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E3-1275 v3 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-8400T. Also, the Xeon E3-1275 v3 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-8400T CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E3-1275 v3 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-8400T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
