Core i5-8400T vs Ryzen 7 PRO 3700U benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 7 PRO 3700U beats the Core i5-8400T in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-8400T in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-8400T has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Ryzen 7 PRO 3700U has 4 cores. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 PRO 3700U has more threads than the Core i5-8400T. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 PRO 3700U has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-8400T. Also, the Ryzen 7 PRO 3700U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 7 PRO 3700U outputs less heat than Core i5-8400T thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 7 PRO 3700U has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-8400T. Despite this, the Core i5-8400T has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 7 PRO 3700U.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-8400T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
