Core i5-8400T vs Core i7-5700HQ comparison
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-5700HQ beats the Core i5-8400T in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-8400T in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-8400T has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i7-5700HQ has 4 cores. Despite this, the Core i7-5700HQ has more threads than the Core i5-8400T. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-5700HQ has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-8400T. Also, the Core i7-5700HQ has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-8400T CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-5700HQ CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i5-8400T has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-5700HQ. The Core i5-8400T also has significantly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-8400T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
