Core i5-8400T vs Core i7-10850H specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Core i7-10850H beats the Core i5-8400T in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-8400T in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i7-10850H has more threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-10850H has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-8400T. Also, the Core i7-10850H has a significantly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-8400T CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-10850H CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches. The Core i7-10850H also has slightly more L3 cache.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-8400T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
