Core i5-8400T vs Core i3-N305 benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i3-N305 performs better than the Core i5-8400T. Despite this, the Core i5-8400T has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i3-N305 has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Core i5-8400T that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-8400T. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i3-N305 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-8400T. Also, the Core i3-N305 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i3-N305 outputs less heat than Core i5-8400T thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i3-N305 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-8400T. Despite this, the Core i5-8400T has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Core i3-N305.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-8400T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
