Core i5-8400T vs Core i3-N300 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-8400T beats the Core i3-N300 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i3-N300 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i3-N300 has slightly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Core i5-8400T has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-8400T. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-8400T has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i3-N300. Despite this, the Core i3-N300 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i3-N300 outputs less heat than Core i5-8400T thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i3-N300 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-8400T. Despite this, the Core i5-8400T has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Core i3-N300.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-8400T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
