Core i5-8400T vs Core 5 120U comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-8400T is faster than the Core 5 120U. Despite this, the Core 5 120U has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core 5 120U has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Core i5-8400T that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-8400T. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-8400T has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core 5 120U. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core 5 120U has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-8400T. The Core 5 120U also has slightly more L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-8400T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
