Core i5-8400 vs FX-8320 comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-8400 performs better than the FX-8320. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the FX-8320 in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-8400 has significantly more cores than the FX-8320. Indeed, the Core i5-8400 has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the FX-8320. Despite this, the FX-8320 has more threads than the Core i5-8400. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the FX-8320 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-8400. A Core i5-8400 CPU outputs less heat than a FX-8320 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
