Core i5-8350U vs Xeon X5680 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Xeon X5680 beats the Core i5-8350U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-8350U in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon X5680 has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i5-8350U has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-8350U. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon X5680 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-8350U. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. A Core i5-8350U CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon X5680 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-8350U has significantly more L2 cache than the Xeon X5680. The Core i5-8350U also has significantly more L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Core i5-8350U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
