Core i5-8350U vs FX-8320 comparison
In our benchmarks, the FX-8320 beats the Core i5-8350U in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-8350U has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the FX-8320 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-8350U. A Core i5-8350U CPU outputs less heat than a FX-8320 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the FX-8320 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-8350U. The FX-8320 also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-8350U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
