Core i5-8350U vs Core i7-4810MQ comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-4810MQ is faster than the Core i5-8350U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-8350U in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-8350U has slightly more cores with 4 cores whereas the Core i7-4810MQ has 3 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-4810MQ. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i7-4810MQ has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-8350U. Also, the Core i7-4810MQ has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-8350U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-4810MQ CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache and L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-8350U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
