Core i5-8250U vs Celeron J6412 comparison

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-8250U is faster than the Celeron J6412. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Celeron J6412 in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Core i5-8250U has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Celeron J6412 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-8250U. The Celeron J6412 outputs less heat than Core i5-8250U thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Celeron J6412 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-8250U. Despite this, the Core i5-8250U has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Celeron J6412.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Core i5-8250U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
