Core i5-7600K vs Ryzen 5 5600 comparison

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 5600 beats the Core i5-7600K in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-7600K in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 5 5600 has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Core i5-7600K that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-7600K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-7600K has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 5600. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 5600 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 5 5600 outputs less heat than Core i5-7600K thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 5 5600 has more L2 cache than the Core i5-7600K. The Ryzen 5 5600 also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-7600K has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
