Core i5-7600K vs FX-9590 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-7600K performs better than the FX-9590. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the FX-9590 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the FX-9590 has more threads. Our comparison shows that the FX-9590 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-7600K. A Core i5-7600K CPU outputs less heat than a FX-9590 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the FX-9590 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-7600K. The FX-9590 also has slightly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones.
