Core i5-7600K vs Core i7 X 980 benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-7600K is faster than the Core i7 X 980. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7 X 980 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7 X 980 has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Core i5-7600K that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-7600K. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i5-7600K has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7 X 980. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i7 X 980 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-7600K
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-7600K has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
