Core i5-7600 vs Core i5-10400F specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-10400F is faster than the Core i5-7600. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-7600 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-10400F has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Core i5-7600 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-7600. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-7600 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-10400F. Despite this, the Core i5-10400F has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-10400F has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-7600. The Core i5-10400F also has significantly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-7600 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
