Core i5-760 vs FX-870K specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-760 performs better than the FX-870K. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the FX-870K in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-760 has significantly more cores than the FX-870K. Indeed, the Core i5-760 has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the FX-870K. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the FX-870K has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-760. The info from our database shows that the FX-870K has more L2 cache than the Core i5-760

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-760 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
