Core i5-760 vs FX-6300 benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the FX-6300 performs better than the Core i5-760. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-760 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-760 has slightly more cores with 4 cores compared to the FX-6300 that has 3 cores. Despite this, the FX-6300 has more threads than the Core i5-760. With our hardware info, we find that the FX-6300 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-760. Also, the FX-6300 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the FX-6300 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-760. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-760 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
