Core i5-760 vs Core 2 Quad Q9650 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-760 is faster than the Core 2 Quad Q9650. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core 2 Quad Q9650 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Core 2 Quad Q9650 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-760. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core 2 Quad Q9650 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-760
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-760 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
