Core i5-7500T vs Core i7-8650U specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-8650U beats the Core i5-7500T in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-7500T in all gaming tests too.
Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count but the Core i7-8650U has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-7500T has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-8650U. Despite this, the Core i7-8650U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-8650U outputs less heat than Core i5-7500T thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches. The Core i7-8650U also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-7500T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
