Core i5-7500 vs Xeon E5-1620 v2 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-7500 beats the Xeon E5-1620 v2 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-1620 v2 in all gaming tests too.
Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count but the Xeon E5-1620 v2 has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E5-1620 v2 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-7500. Also, the Xeon E5-1620 v2 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-7500 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-1620 v2 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-7500 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
