Core i5-7500 vs Xeon E3-1220 v5 comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-7500 is faster than the Xeon E3-1220 v5. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E3-1220 v5 in all gaming tests too.
Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count and the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i5-7500 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E3-1220 v5. Also, the Core i5-7500 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-7500 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E3-1220 v5 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache. The Xeon E3-1220 v5 also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-7500 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
