Core i5-7500 vs Ryzen 5 PRO 3400G specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 5 PRO 3400G is faster than the Core i5-7500. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-7500 in all gaming tests too.
Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count but the Ryzen 5 PRO 3400G has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 PRO 3400G has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-7500. Also, the Ryzen 5 PRO 3400G has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 PRO 3400G has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-7500. Despite this, the Core i5-7500 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 PRO 3400G.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-7500 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
