Core i5-7500 vs Ryzen 5 7520U specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 5 7520U performs better than the Core i5-7500. Despite this, the Core i5-7500 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Ryzen 5 7520U has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-7500 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 7520U. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 7520U has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-7500. Despite this, the Core i5-7500 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 7520U.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-7500 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
