Core i5-7500 vs Pentium Gold G7400 benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-7500 is faster than the Pentium Gold G7400. Despite this, the Pentium Gold G7400 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-7500 has significantly more cores with 4 cores whereas the Pentium Gold G7400 has 2 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Pentium Gold G7400 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-7500. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Pentium Gold G7400 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-7500. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-7500 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
