Core i5-7500 vs FX-8150 specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-7500 is faster than the FX-8150. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the FX-8150 in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the FX-8150 has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the FX-8150 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-7500. A Core i5-7500 CPU outputs less heat than a FX-8150 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the FX-8150 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-7500. The FX-8150 also has slightly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-7500 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
