Core i5-7400T vs Xeon E5-2640 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-2640 beats the Core i5-7400T in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-7400T in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2640 has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i5-7400T has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-7400T. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2640 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-7400T. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. A Core i5-7400T CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2640 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Xeon E5-2640 has more L2 cache than the Core i5-7400T. The Xeon E5-2640 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-7400T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
