Core i5-7400T vs Pentium G4600 benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Pentium G4600 is faster than the Core i5-7400T. Despite this, the Core i5-7400T has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-7400T has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Pentium G4600 that has 2 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Pentium G4600 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-7400T. A Core i5-7400T CPU outputs less heat than a Pentium G4600 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i5-7400T has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Pentium G4600. The Core i5-7400T also has significantly more L3 cache.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-7400T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
