Core i5-7400T vs Athlon Gold 7220U benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Athlon Gold 7220U beats the Core i5-7400T in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-7400T in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-7400T has significantly more cores than the Athlon Gold 7220U. Indeed, the Core i5-7400T has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the Athlon Gold 7220U. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Athlon Gold 7220U has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-7400T. Also, the Athlon Gold 7220U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Athlon Gold 7220U outputs less heat than Core i5-7400T thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches. The Core i5-7400T also has significantly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-7400T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
