In our benchmarks, the Core i5-8350U beats the Core i5-7300HQ in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-7300HQ has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Core i5-8350U has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-7300HQ has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-8350U. Despite this, the Core i5-8350U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i5-8350U outputs less heat than Core i5-7300HQ thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
