Core i5-7300HQ vs Core i5-7300U benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-7300HQ beats the Core i5-7300U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-7300U in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-7300HQ has significantly more cores with 4 cores whereas the Core i5-7300U has 2 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i5-7300U has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-7300HQ. In addition, both chips have the same turbo speed. The Core i5-7300U outputs less heat than Core i5-7300HQ thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-7300HQ has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
