Core i5-7300HQ vs Core i5-4690 benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-4690 performs better than the Core i5-7300HQ. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-7300HQ in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-4690 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-7300HQ. Also, the Core i5-4690 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-7300HQ CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-4690 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-7300HQ has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
