Core i5-6600T vs Core i9-12900T benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i9-12900T is faster than the Core i5-6600T. Despite this, the Core i5-6600T has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i9-12900T has significantly more cores with 16 cores whereas the Core i5-6600T has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-6600T. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i5-6600T has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i9-12900T. Despite this, the Core i9-12900T has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-6600T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
