Core i5-6600K vs Core i3-1005G1 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-6600K beats the Core i3-1005G1 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i3-1005G1 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-6600K has significantly more cores with 4 cores whereas the Core i3-1005G1 has 2 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i5-6600K has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i3-1005G1. Also, the Core i5-6600K has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i3-1005G1 outputs less heat than Core i5-6600K thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i5-6600K has more L2 cache than the Core i3-1005G1. The Core i5-6600K also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-6600K has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
