Core i5-6600K vs Core 5 120U specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-6600K beats the Core 5 120U in overall performance. Despite this, the Core 5 120U has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core 5 120U has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Core i5-6600K that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-6600K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-6600K has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core 5 120U. In terms of cache, the Core 5 120U has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-6600K. The Core 5 120U also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-6600K has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
