Core i5-6600 vs Xeon E5-620 benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Xeon E5-620 is faster than the Core i5-6600. Despite this, the Core i5-6600 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Xeon E5-620 has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-6600 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-620. Also, the Core i5-6600 has a significantly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-6600 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-620 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-6600 has significantly more L2 cache than the Xeon E5-620. The Core i5-6600 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-6600 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
