Core i5-6600 vs Xeon E5-2630 v2 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-2630 v2 beats the Core i5-6600 in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-6600 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-2630 v2 has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Core i5-6600 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-6600. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-6600 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2630 v2. Also, the Core i5-6600 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-6600 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2630 v2 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-6600 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
