Core i5-6600 vs Xeon E3-1245 v5 specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon E3-1245 v5 performs better than the Core i5-6600. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-6600 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Xeon E3-1245 v5 has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Xeon E3-1245 v5 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-6600. In addition, both chips have the same turbo speed. A Core i5-6600 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E3-1245 v5 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache. The Xeon E3-1245 v5 also has slightly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-6600 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
