Core i5-6600 vs Xeon E3-1245 V2 comparison

In our benchmarks, the Xeon E3-1245 V2 beats the Core i5-6600 in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-6600 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count but the Xeon E3-1245 V2 has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E3-1245 V2 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-6600. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache. The Xeon E3-1245 V2 also has slightly more L3 cache.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-6600 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
